I’m happy to announce my new book chapter included within Subjective Experiences of Interactive Nostalgia edited by Ryan Lizardi. It is available NOW from Peter Lang. Here are some links for the book: Peter Lang’s site and Google Books.
My chapter is titled “Lego Historical War Sub-Cultures: Idealized Play and Nostalgia”. It reports data from interviews with sellers and buyers of the one theme Lego has never officially released – nation-based warfare. This sub-culture of re-purposing official Lego pieces and fabricating custom parts by Adult Fans of Lego (AFOLs) is investigated around any possible tensions between the pure idealized play the Lego brand specifically represents and a nostalgia for past bloody conflicts reconstructed in miniature.
